God is the one who helps me so I shouldn’t be super scared of anything. I should stand firm, stare the storm in the face if I have to and move when Jesus shows me a path. But I have to be calm first in order to listen to Jesus.
I don’t want to make a decision or act when I’m not in the best state of mind. I’ve found that Jesus puts me in the best state of mind so that I can make a better decision and act in a way where I’m left with more joy and peace compared to when I react without Jesus.
I know my decisions have outcomes and I’ve found the best outcomes come from decisions I make with Jesus. When I’m stressed I can go to Jesus. When I’m triggered I can go to Jesus. If I’m heading into a situation with known hazards, I remind myself before going into that situation that I will need Jesus. Here’s exactly what I say, “Don’t be naive, you’re gonna need Jesus.” And when I have Jesus on my mind it brings me closer to doing everything in love.
I’m not perfect, but I’m better with Christ.
(May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. — Romans 15:13)
